Catholic Life Enrichment
JPIC group – JPIC stands for “Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation”. The JPIC group is overseen by Ms Aherne and the senior JPIC prefects, with each form group represented by a JPIC student representative. For 2026-27, the group’s continued focus is Laudato Si’, centring on community involvement, sustainability, and care for our common home. The JPIC group actively supports the local food bank and homeless centres and organises Christmas hampers and just recently Spring hampers for families in need in collaboration with our local parish and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
The group delivers regular assemblies to raise awareness of key themes such as Catholic Social Teaching, the Sustainable Development Goals, and CAFOD campaigns, including climate justice. Students have also engaged with a range of non-profit organisations, including Greenpeace UK and Mary’s Meals, and have taken part in initiatives such as the Loreto Sustainability Conference and Youth COP events with Hertfordshire County Council.
Catechetics – Year 12 students can volunteer to train as a catechist. The catechists visit our local Catholic primary schools to deliver RE lessons as well as helping in their own parishes.
STEP – We are very grateful for the support we receive from Step, a local Christian group. Step support our retreat programme, and run a leadership programme for our senior prefect team. They also offer support for our students who may feel anxious or nervous, especially coming up to public exams.
Retreats – Every year group have an annual retreat day held in school with the Step team.
Sixth Form Loreto Leadership retreat – Groups of sixth form students from the Loreto Schools across England meet for the annual leadership conference.
Eucharistic ministers – Students and staff can train to be Eucharistic Ministers. We are very grateful to the clergy of from Ss Alban and Stephen for providing this training.
Staff prayer group – The staff prayer group meets weekly. All staff, regardless of religion or denomination, are welcome to attend.
Pupil prayer groups – The chaplaincy team plan and run prayer groups for the younger students.
Lenten charities – Every year during Lent the students raise money for charities. Please see our fundraising page for more details.
Stations of the Cross – The Stations are said in Lent. All students attend a service.
The Rosary – The Rosary is said in May and October
Friday Mass - We are grateful to the priests from Ss Alban and Stephen for coming into school to say Mass in our school chapel.
Exposition – As part of our Friday Mass cycle some classes get to experience Adoration: this takes place on a Tuesday lunchtime. Staff and students are welcome to attend.
The Good Shepherd Mass at Westminster Cathedral and Catholic Children’s Society Carol Service at Westminster cathedral – The school is represented at this service by students and staff.
Inspection by Westminster Diocese
Westminster Diocese inspected the school in February 2020 and concluded that Loreto College is “a vibrant, alive and engaging Catholic community”, outstanding in all areas. You can read the full report here:
